Spicy Ancho Cider Jameson Cocktail

This Spicy Ancho Cider Jameson Cocktail is created, in part, for Drizly. I partnered with them to create a delicious fall cocktail you can make at home and to introduce you to Drizly’s service. Haven’t heard of Drizly yet? I’m about to change the way you get your liquor, beer, mixers and drink supplies. Drizly delivers everything you need to make great cocktails at home.

Apple cider is one of my favorite fall flavors plus it’s great served hot or cold. It’s a tricky mixer because it can be thick and overly sweet. I’ve created a versatile and easy to adjust cocktail to suit your preference for sweetness. This version is not too sweet.

I’ve tried apple cider sangria and cider chai but I wanted a unique cocktail. Since Drizly provided gift cards for the drink ingredients, I bought one of my favorites – Ancho Reyes, an ancho chili liqueur.

Ancho Reyes is an amber liqueur with hints of cacao, tamarind, plum, apple, almonds and subtle herbs; it is lightly sweet and moderately spicy.

It’s rare I make a cocktail with just a liqueur and mixer so I grabbed a bottle of Jameson, a bottle of Fee Brothers lemon bitters, and got to work. You can get all of the ingredients to make this cocktail online at Drizly and have them in an hour, seriously.

Spicy Ancho Cider Jameson Cocktail is a chilled manhattan-esque cocktail with plenty of heat to warm you up on a chilly fall night.
