Category: food My husband and I love to cook. We enjoy having friends over and making a great meal. Food brings people together.
Greg has always been a good cook. He has great technique and he is neat when he cooks. I, on the other hand, am a pretty decent cook but the kitchen always looks like a tornado hit it when I’m done. It’s bad. Real bad. What I do have that he doesn’t is a sense of putting flavors together. We discovered my talent early on, when we would go out to restaurants for dinner and then try to recreate our favorite meals at home. Way back when, before children, when we actually enjoyed going out to dinner and relaxing without worrying about the $10+/hour babysitter bill we were racking up as we luxuriously ate our meal. But I digress…
Turns out, I am better at picking apart the dinners and figuring out the ingredients, he’s better at putting them back together. Now we eat luxuriously, at home, after the kids go to bed. About twice a year.
So we make a great team when it comes to cooking. I tell him what to cook and he cooks it fabulously. I get to be bossy and he gets me to stop talking by giving me great food to eat. Win-win.

Can This Unorganized Girl Find Structure?
It’s back…another #AskAwayFriday and this week I’m swapping with Beth from Structure in an Unstructured Life. Maybe it’s serendipitous, maybe it’s a sign (to get my act together and get some structure in my life) but Beth is the third blogger I’ve swapped with who is ultra-organized and loves making
Roasted Corn & Jalapeño Salsa
Are You Feeling It?
In the Hot Seat
Asparagus Mushroom Quinoa
The Pumpkin Hater’s Pumpkin Soup
The Pumpkin Hater’s Pumpkin Soup I’ve never been a huge fan of pumpkin. I don’t like pumpkin pie or pumpkin rolls, that whole traditional flavor profile – cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, allspice – it’s just not something I find delicious. Imagine my surprise then, when I tried making a savory pumpkin
