I’ve always loved it: looking at photos, dissecting them, finding the nuances and figuring out why a photograph works. Now, since I’ve invested in some classes, equipment, and editing programs I’ve become a true, enthusiastic student of photography. This journey has been amazing and endless, overwhelming and breathtaking.
My favorite part is giving a photo to someone that they wouldn’t otherwise have – of them or their child or a place they’ve been. The slight intake of breath and that moment of awe…that is my favorite part. I’ve come to realize, as I look back over my years of work, these moments are fleeting. My son who plays football today may stop and do something else. Of course the memories are there but photographs bring memories back to life in a way nothing else can. It’s specific, tangible evidence of a moment that may be forgotten otherwise.
